Some places justify a five in the morning alarm, and the rippled sandstone walls of Antelope Canyon are one of them. This Antelope Canyon tour takes you from Las Vegas into Arizona and back in a single day, leaving at 6:15 AM from the Luxor Hotel, by private coach and with a live guide from first minute to last, from $199. The route also takes in Horseshoe Bend and the Glen Canyon overlook. It is one of our most requested tours departing from Las Vegas.

Below you will find what you need before booking: how much it costs and what it covers, what you see at each stop, how much walking is actually involved and who can handle the descent into the canyon, plus the practical details on timing, gratuities and cancellation.

How Much the Antelope Canyon Tour from Las Vegas Costs

The tour starts at $199 per person and covers the private coach transfer for the whole route, a guaranteed seat, a live guide for the entire day and admission to the scheduled stops, including the guided canyon visit with a Navajo guide. Children over 2 pay the full fare, while under 2s travel free.

Outside the price are meals, taken freely along the way, hotel pickup, since departure is a group meeting point at the Luxor, and the guide's gratuity, customary in the United States at around $10 per person.

Book the Smart Way

Access to Antelope Canyon is capped by the Navajo Nation and every group enters on a time slot booked in advance: this is not a place you turn up at and walk into. Between March and October, when the light inside the canyon is at its best, departures sell out weeks ahead. Booking early means picking the date that fits the rest of your trip rather than giving it up. You also get support before and after purchase, a physical office in New York at 324 W 47th St, and a phone line staffed early on departure morning.

The Itinerary Stop by Stop

The day follows a scenic route into Navajo territory and takes in three quite different places, with an opening stop for breakfast.

St. George and the road into Navajo land

The first stop is St. George, Utah, a town home to the oldest continuously operating Mormon temple in the world. This is the breakfast break and the dividing line between desert highway and the red rock landscape that begins shortly afterwards, as the route approaches the Colorado River.

Horseshoe Bend

Here the Colorado River carves a horseshoe shaped loop, seen from an overlook roughly 1,000 feet above the water. From the car park to the overlook is about a 1.5 mile round trip on a flat but sandy path with almost no shade: an easy walk rather than a hike, but one to take on with water and a hat.

Lower Antelope Canyon and Glen Canyon

You visit the lower section of the canyon, the place where, in Navajo folklore, water runs through the rock. A local Navajo guide leads the group between sandstone walls carved by water, wind and sand, and points out where sunbeams filter down through the cracks. The visit lasts around an hour. Before heading back to Las Vegas there is a stop at the Glen Canyon overlook for a final look across the area, with arrival in the city in the evening.

Our tip

Inside the canyon a phone beats a DSLR: the passages are narrow, the queue keeps moving and there is no time to change a lens. Bring cash instead for the Navajo guide's gratuity, a separate person from your tour guide who should be thanked separately.

What the Tour Includes

  • Guided day tour with a live guide on board throughout
  • Private transfer by coach bus, round trip from Las Vegas
  • Guaranteed seat on board for every participant
  • Antelope Canyon visit with a local Navajo guide
  • Stops at Horseshoe Bend and the Glen Canyon overlook

Hotel pickup and drop off, the guide's gratuity and meals are not included, with meals left to your own choice during the stops. A note on language: the commentary on this tour is delivered in Italian, and the guide may alternate languages when the group includes travellers from different countries. If you need English commentary throughout, contact us before booking.

How Much Walking Is Involved and Who Can Join

This is the part almost nobody explains in advance, and it shapes the decision more than any other detail.

The lower section of Antelope Canyon sits below ground level: getting in and out means using steep metal stairways, near vertical in places, and the passages between the walls are narrow. Reasonable independent mobility is therefore needed, and the route is not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties, a marked fear of heights, or anyone using a wheelchair. At Horseshoe Bend, by contrast, the path is flat but adds around 1.5 miles on sand.

The rest of the day is comfortable: most of the time is spent seated on the coach, because the round trip covers more than 550 miles. Anyone prone to motion sickness should factor that in, as should anyone travelling with very young children. If a long driving day does not appeal, the shorter options around the city sit among our Las Vegas tours.

What to Know Before Booking

  • Arrive 15 minutes before 6:15 AM at the Luxor Hotel: the meeting point is the north entrance, lower level, by the Uber Ride Share sign
  • If the coach has left the tour is forfeited, with no refund or date change, since the destination is over four hours away
  • Cancellation is free up to 72 hours before with a full refund, after which a 100% penalty applies
  • The tour runs in rain or snow: participants are contacted only in cases of force majeure
  • Coach seats are not assigned: the guide allocates them by availability and seating together cannot be promised
  • Smoking is not allowed on board, electronic devices included
  • The tour may be multilingual when the group includes travellers from different countries
  • Bring water and closed shoes: both the canyon and Horseshoe Bend involve walking on sand, and Arizona summers are hot

If you are weighing up other destinations reachable in a single day, they sit alongside this one among our United States excursions.

Important

After booking you will receive an automatic confirmation by email that serves as your ticket for the tour: check your spam folder too. For assistance in the early hours of departure morning, call +1 212 642 0915. The programme may change during public holidays or special events, and access to the canyon depends on Navajo Nation rulings, which can close it temporarily for weather or maintenance.
