What you’ll see on the tour

The route crosses the west side of Manhattan from north to south, linking some of the city’s most loved areas in a single itinerary. You walk at an easy pace while the guide shares stories, curiosities and anecdotes that most visitors miss. For more ideas beyond this route, take a look at our guide on what to see in New York.

From Hudson Yards to the High Line

The tour starts at Hudson Yards, one of the most futuristic corners of New York, home to the famous Vessel, The Shops at Hudson Yards and skyscrapers that seem to challenge the sky. From there you climb onto the High Line, the elevated park built on a former railway, where art, architecture and nature blend between the buildings, with constant views over the skyline and the Hudson.

Chelsea, Chelsea Market and Little Island

Coming down from the High Line, the first break is at Chelsea Market, one of the city’s most famous food halls, where you can taste sweet and savory specialties made by some of New York’s best chefs. If you want to plan your bites in advance, our guide on where to eat in New York is a handy companion. A short walk away is Little Island, the floating park suspended over the Hudson River that pairs greenery with bold architecture and surprising views of the water.

Greenwich Village and Washington Square Park

The tour continues into the heart of Greenwich Village, among tree-lined streets and picture-perfect atmosphere. Here you stop in front of Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment for the classic Sex and the City fan photo, and take a second break at Magnolia Bakery, famous for its cupcakes. The grand finale is Washington Square Park, the beating heart of the Village and a hub of subway lines to head back to your hotel.

What’s included and what’s not

The tour is designed to be light and stress-free. Here is exactly what is covered by the price and what is not, so you arrive with no surprises.

Included in the price:

  • Expert Italian-speaking guide who leads the group for the whole tour
  • Full walking itinerary through Hudson Yards, the High Line, Chelsea Market, Little Island and Greenwich Village
  • Vessel and Little Island to admire from the best viewpoints
  • Stories and curiosities to see the city like a true New Yorker

Not included, and at your own expense:

  • Food and drinks: cupcakes, snacks and drinks during the breaks (for example at Magnolia Bakery or Chelsea Market) are paid on site
  • Gratuity for the guide: recommended but optional, usually around $5 per person
  • Hotel transfers: the tour starts at the meeting point and ends at Washington Square Park, with no hotel pick-up or drop-off

Meeting point, duration and where the tour ends

The meeting point is the Tick Tock Diner, at 481 8th Avenue (at 34th Street), easy to reach from most of Manhattan. From there the group sets off on foot for a route of about three hours that ends at Washington Square Park: the tour does not return to the starting point, but from here several subway lines take you back toward Times Square and the main areas of the city within a few stops. Your guide will point you to the easiest way back to your hotel.

Yes. The route includes a photo stop in front of Carrie Bradshaw’s famous stoop at 64 Perry Street in the West Village, plus a break at Magnolia Bakery, another Sex and the City landmark. It is a private residence, so you admire it from the street. Note that this is a neighborhood walking tour, not a dedicated Sex and the City tour.

In case of rain or snow the tour still takes place. We recommend checking the weather yourself and, if needed, cancelling or rescheduling the date up to 48 hours before. Last-minute requests are not accepted.
