Which Attractions Can You Choose with the New York Explorer Pass?

The best thing about this pass is the choice: create your own itinerary with observation decks, museums, cruises, sightseeing buses, and guided walking tours, and only pay for the experiences you’re truly interested in. Below you’ll find the most popular attractions, divided by category, so you can immediately see the range of options available.

  • Observation decks: Empire State Building, Top of the Rock, The Edge, and One World Observatory.
  • Museums: MoMA, Guggenheim, American Museum of Natural History, and Madame Tussauds.
  • Cruises and boats: Circle Line, scenic harbor cruises including evening options, The Beast Speedboat, and the ferry to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.
  • City tours: Big Bus hop-on hop-off and Central Park bike rental.
  • Guided walking tours: Central Park, Wall Street, Times Square and Broadway, Brooklyn Bridge and Dumbo, plus several themed tours.
  • Other experiences: the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, Luna Park at Coney Island, LEGOLAND, and food and wine tours.

There are more than 95 experiences available, and the list may change: you can find the most up-to-date version in the Go City app.

Among the observation decks, choose your favorite viewpoint from the best New York observation deck tickets, from The Edge’s suspended outdoor terrace at Hudson Yards to One World’s views over the harbor.

The most iconic remains the Empire State Building, with its 86th-floor observatory offering one of the most beautiful views of Manhattan at sunset.

On the art front, the pass gives you access to the main New York museum tickets, from the Guggenheim to the American Museum of Natural History.

Among them, the standout is the Museum of Modern Art, where you’ll find masterpieces by Van Gogh, Picasso, and Warhol in the heart of Midtown.

If you prefer to see the city from the water, the pass lets you board a Circle Line cruise that circles Manhattan and reveals the skyline from every angle.

The pass covers the attractions, but if you really want to understand the city, the best option is still New York tours in Italian, led by people who live there every day and know the stories behind every corner.

Explorer Pass or All-Inclusive: Which Go City Pass Should You Choose?

The difference between the two Go City passes is simple. The Go City Explorer Pass is based on choice: you pay for a fixed number of attractions, from 2 to 7, and have 30 days to use them at your own pace. It’s ideal if you want to see some of the city’s iconic attractions without rushing.

The New York Pass All-Inclusive works differently: it is based on days. You activate the pass and visit as many attractions as you want during the consecutive days you choose, starting at $164 (approximately €144). It’s worth it if you plan to visit many attractions close together, even three or four per day.

If you’re still unsure which one to choose for your trip, our guide comparing New York passes puts them side by side, with prices included.

What to Know Before Activating the Pass

Before booking, keep in mind a few practical details that can make a difference once you’re there.

  • Validity: once activated at the first attraction, the pass is valid for 30 days; however, you have one year from the date of purchase to activate it.
  • Empire State Building: must be reserved in advance, and with the pass it is not possible to choose a sunset time slot.
  • Reservations: some attractions require you to set a date and time through the Go City app; it’s best not to leave them until the last day of your trip.
  • Excluded attractions: the MET and SUMMIT One Vanderbilt are not included in the pass.
  • Refunds: the pass is refundable only if it has not been used and has not expired; after activation, a penalty applies in case of non-use.

With a little planning, you can get the most out of the pass and leave nothing to chance.

Our recommendation

Our recommendation

Activate the pass on a full day and group two or three nearby attractions together, so you can quickly make the most of its value. Book the Empire State Building and the most popular observation decks as soon as you receive the voucher, because evening time slots fill up quickly.

Important

After booking, you will receive an automatic confirmation and, within 24 hours, the digital pass via email; also check your spam folder. The included attractions and opening days may change without notice, so always check the updated list on the Go City app before heading out.
