At the end of a week in New York you find yourself with three hundred photos of the skyline and not one decent shot with everyone in it. How the Photoshoot Works

The photographer stays with you for three consecutive hours across the places you choose together, shooting while you walk. This is not a studio pose: the idea is images with you inside the city, rather than in front of a backdrop.

The route is decided one of two ways, and neither is wrong. You can name the places yourself, if you have a specific spot in mind or want to recreate a shot you have seen, or you can let the photographer lead, since they know the hours when the light works on each corner and the points where crowds stay manageable. The second option gives better results for first time visitors, because the time of day matters more than the location.

Before the appointment you stay in contact with our team, backed by a physical office a short walk from Times Square at 324 W 47th St. Afterwards the photos are edited and sent in digital format. There are 50 images, a number chosen to give you a real selection rather than an archive to wade through.

Our tip

Ask for the slot before sunset. In New York low light slides between the towers and lifts faces instead of flattening them, and streets that sit in hard shadow at midday become something else entirely. It matters more than any choice of location.

What the Package Does Not Include

Three things sit outside the price, and it is worth knowing them before booking so expectations line up.

• Travel: subway and taxi fares during the three hours are yours, including the photographer's
• Gratuity: not included and left to you, as is customary in the United States
• Weddings and fashion: we do not shoot ceremonies or fashion sessions, only holiday photography

On that last point it is worth being explicit: if you are looking for wedding photography, an elopement or a professional portfolio, this is not the right product and we would rather say so upfront. If instead you want to go home with real images of your trip, this is exactly it.

The package covers one to five people at the same price, so the cost per head changes considerably with group size: for five it works out under $80 each for three hours of a private photographer.
